#23 Lake District with Nonno and Oma
April 14, 2026
Return to the Lake District with Pemi for the second time, this time with his grandparents! Nonno and Oma were visiting us and after our travel plans fell through to go to Boston (UK) for the marathon and then Wasdale to camp, we quickly arranged to take them to our favourite valley in the Lake District: Great Langdale! We had a beautiful time camping there together, walking in the valleys and visiting some tarns (little lakes). On our third day we took the grandparents to summit a fell: Loughrigg Fell, nestled between Ambleside and Grasmere, with spectacular views of the high fells, of Grasmere, Windermere, and back towards the Langdale Valley. Andrew and I had been to this fell once before with Andrew’s lab, but we took a different, very beautiful and very steep route - passing along the beautiful Loughrigg tarn. It was Pemi’s first picnic sitting on the ground, on top of the fell and it was a fun experience getting messy with mackerel, bread, avocado and easy peeler juice.
