The little red hen is industrious and when she finds some grains of wheat embarks on a mission to grown wheat and make bread from them!

Even if none of her "roommates" (a noisy duck, a lazy rat and a sleepy cat) on the farm want to help her she carries on working hard... and also gets to finally reap the rewards herself (with butter and jam!).

It's a story that celebrates self sufficiency as much as it scolds free-loading.
